SUMMARY 

This position is a highly visible, strategic position that interacts with multiple functions at all levels of the organization.  The Sr. Manager of Merchandising will be responsible for the merchandising strategy for all customer types and channels for Vinyl product category.  In partnership with channel account leaders, field sales, and corporate product marketing, this position will lead the strategic alignment of channel value propositions, channel pricing direction, brand/product distribution, and go-to-market plans/execution that connect our Enterprise Vinyl Strategy with our Sales and Brand strategies.   

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

In collaboration with the marketing and sales teams, identifies opportunities, develops channel/segment value propositions, builds channel go-to-market strategies, and ensures field sales support of key vinyl merchandising initiatives that achieve Pella enterprise revenue and operating income targets.

Determines sales strategy for enterprise pricing. Owns identification of gaps in channel pricing and discounting against the competitive set.  While partnering with product development to close gaps related to the Enterprise Vinyl portfolio. Leads and directs channel pricing, product/brand distribution strategy, effective promotion and discounting strategies to accelerate growth while driving strong ROI on sales investments.

In cooperation with Marketing, Account Management, and Field Sales, responsible for developing the processes and directing the execution of timely sales promotions, product promotions, and providing product launch materials to maximize sales effectiveness in every channel.  Plan and own annual promotional budget and investment ROI across channels. 

Leads and directs all merchandising efforts including display types and functions, display focus for product mix, vendor selection, and ongoing asset management.  Establish and continually analyze key performance indicators to support overall sales goals.

Liaise with Account and Regional Sales leaders to optimize all aspects of the business including new product launch and planning, retail & promotional strategies.

Leads team responsible for Corporate Sales Communications related to Go-To market updates, product launches, Field Sales strategies, price increase updates, and other communications deemed necessary for channel sales teams. 

Cross-functional gatekeeper and disseminator of all relevant information and assets related to merchandising, promotions & pricing to key stakeholders including customers, marketing, sales, finance, and operations.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES

People Leader, and direct reports may be added as the Merchandising function continues to scale. 

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

Bachelor's degree (B. A./B. S.) from four-year college or university; and 8+ years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.  MBA preferred.

Experience managing a portfolio of customers and managing channel conflict with multiple stakeholders is preferred.

LANGUAGE SKILLS

Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations.  Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals.  Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS

Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference, and general ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.

REASONING ABILITY

Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
