SUMMARY 

Provides leadership in the areas of load planning, freight payment and metrics analysis. Manages the Load Planning Team to ensure that load plans are built accurately and at an optimum cost for the entire Pella supply chain. Coordinates all activity within the Oracle Transportation Management system and is the operational expert of said system. To perform the job successfully, should demonstrate the following competencies. Strong product knowledge. Strong analytical skills to make decisions with data. Strong project management skills. In depth knowledge of the Pella logistical operations in order to assist in development of the Oracle Transportation Management solution. Effective communicator. Ability to make decisions that balance labor, freight, & customer service. Develops tools to motivate employees in the department. Advanced knowledge in Excel & willingness to learn other systems.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Include the following. Other duties may be assigned. Responsible for the identification, development and implementation of programs, policies and procedures which support total customer satisfaction, both internally and externally, where applicable in relation to this position. This would include working with PDSN’s on scheduled deliveries from Pella. Responsible for day to day load planning function. Load plan must be out on a timely basis. Primary contact with Oracle OTM (Load planning software). Primary responsibility is for installation of system upgrades and testing. Installs enhancements to support the changing needs of the business. Performs scenario evaluation as needed on various Logistics issues and administers the database to support Oracle in the client/server environment. Assists in evaluating new load planning/optimization evaluation and other misc. logistics software. Takes the lead in implementing purchased software. Assists in identification and implementation of carrier performance measures. Supports communication between carrier and Pella Corporation. Assists in identification and implementation of alternative freight payment options. Responsible for developing a detailed budget and operating to that budget on a fiscal year basis. The budget includes manpower, capital, and non-labor expenses. Provides special data analysis as needed to support the business. Serves as a representative for Logistics on special task forces with other Manufacturing personnel or personnel from other divisions as required. Responsible for the development, improvements, and execution of the Pella shuttle program. Serves as a liaison to all sites for corporate logistics in relation to outbound load planning and shuttles. 

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES

Manages 6 - 10 employees. Is responsible for the overall direction, coordination, and evaluation of this unit. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

 Bachelor's degree (B. A) from four-year college or university; and four years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Transportation logistics degree or background preferred.

COMPUTER SKILLS

  • Oracle Transportation Management experience strongly preferred
  • Experience implementing and acting as an administrator in configuring the software required
  • Experience collaborating with the IT Integration team
  • SQL writing skills preferred
