SUMMARY

Responsible for the deployment of a Quality System including the development and oversight of the Pella Warehouse annual quality plan.

Responsible for moderately complex engineering projects.  Coordinates work within the scope of assigned projects to ensure objectives in terms of quality, cost, and time are met.  Responsible for effective communication of engineering information among team members.  Follows the structure of Pella’s Safety, Quality, Project Management & Continuous Improvement Systems from concept through project execution.  May supervise assigned technical team members and coordinates their work within the scope of assigned responsibilities.  Serves as a resource to others as assigned, providing technical information and engineering recommendations that assist with projects.

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Contributes to project identification and definition.  Develops, implements and/or supports assigned technologies, products, and processes. Responsible for other projects as assigned by supervisor.

  • Manage and improve processes to uphold warehouse and trailer quality standards.
  • Establish and provide quality related documents to the manufacturing floor such as work instructions, control plans, and visual aids.
  • Track and monitor key quality performance metrics in order to reduce shipping defects.
  • The scope of influence of this position spans manufacturing, engineering, product development, plant warehouses, and sales branches.
  • The ability to effectively present information, defend a position and address concerns is key to fostering collaboration. 
  • Periodically exposed to machinery where safe operating procedures must be followed.
  • Occasional lifting of materials up to 30 lbs. is required.
  • Proven experience beyond education to support and deliver high quality products and processes through the application of engineering principles.
  • Independently evaluates, selects and applies engineering principles to product and process modifications.
  • Exercises independent judgment to define project objectives and engineering / scientific approach.
  • Assignments may require development of unclear objectives and require investigation of multiple variables.

 

QUALIFICATIONS

  • 3+ years combined engineering experience.
  • Engineering statistics (Lean Sigma tools)
  • Lean Sigma Green Belt certification and ASQ Certified Quality Engineer preferred.
  • Apply technical and functional expertise, Manager and improve processes, Foster collaboration, Establish plans, Coach and develop people, Lead courageously
  • Microsoft Office applications and minitab 

EDUCATION

  • Bachelor of Science in Engineering, Math, or relevant Science or combination of education and experience.  Responsible for ongoing development of technical and leadership competencies.
