The commercialization product manager is a strategic leadership role with responsibility for the overall portfolio strategy including product positioning, lifecycle management, and identification of each product’s reason to exist; as a direct report to the General Manager of the Wood/Entry Door Division and a team of three direct reports, this senior role will have significant executive interface and a key role in ideating and implementing corporate growth strategies.

He/she will work closely with a team of product managers to identify the optimal go-to-market approach for each product in order to drive share, optimize profit and deliver on long term revenue projections. This role will also ensure the respective product strategies and larger portfolio vision are consistently and actively managed as the products move through various market lifecycle states. A successful candidate will serve as a front-line marketing leader who drives engagement and collaboration with product management, sales, engineering and innovation, consumer insights, corporate & field marketing, as well as operations. The ideal candidate will have substantial consumer packaged goods experience in either sales enablement or product marketing or a background in managerial consulting.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES of this commercilization product manager include the following. Other duties may be assigned:

  • Lead development of annual Product Line Strategy Roadmaps for each product in combination with Product Management leaders aimed toward long-term strategic plans
  • Leverage insights, understanding of the buyer and intended outcomes to influence direction both upstream product development and downstream sales and marketing initiatives
  • Inspire and shape customer-centric product positioning, feature/benefit messaging, claims, product content, to ensure effective content and information is presented to our prospects, customers, and influencers
  • Comfortable with complexity and thinking on multiple levels of abstraction; demonstrated use of critical thinking techniques
  • Work closely with Product Management leaders to ensure product strategies and go-to-market approaches are in alignment with measurable goals and objectives
  • Collaborate and understand / manage expectations with product management and across adjacent departments (Consumer Insights & Innovation, Sales, Engineering, corporate & field marketing, operations, legal)
  • Lead with influence throughout all levels of the organization conveying our core product roles and portfolio positioning across the business and leadership team
  • Develop and maintain knowledge of the market, direct and emerging competitors, and building industry changes impacting the business and collective portfolio positioning
  • Lead new product introduction and sales enablement activities for product teams, including product positioning, field activation work streams & decision making

 SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Develop and lead product marketing / commercialization staff of three direct reports and collaborate with a cross-functional teams to drive GTM projects and programs from strategy, execution to post-launch tracking
  • Build collaborative teams through strong coaching and mentoring skills with a strong sense of accountability

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

  • Bachelor's degree in related field is required; MBA or further professional education preferred
  • Minimum 8 years of experience with demonstrated achievement in leading go to market strategies and product marketing initiatives to meet goals and objectives
  • Proven ability to translate and integrate business goals & consumer insights into a business cases, critical product requirements, project plans and programs
  • Patience driving change and navigating successfully within many functional areas of the business
  • CPG product marketing experience
