At Pella, UI Designers take on complex tasks and transform them into intuitive, accessible and easy-to-use experiences for millions of people around the country—from the first-time user to the seasoned professional. UI Designers collaborate with a multi-disciplinary team working closely to refine the Pella digital ecosystem and create innovative, great-looking experiences that our users value.
The UI Designer is responsible to make sure that every page and every step a user will experience in their interaction will conform to the overall vision created by the UX Designer. The UI Designer will influence and create visual design elements, typography, colors across multiple digital platforms.
We believe that all of our experiences should be beautiful and accessible. The UI Design role supports the UX lead in producing multiple design components to be represented across various device sizes and relying on user-centered design principles to deliver high-quality visuals across many platforms.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

  • Be a great team player, experienced in working with agile teams. Ability to collaborate closely with ux designers, developers, content writers, graphic designers, and project managers.
  • Be able to take design direction from UX designers and work within brand guidelines.
  • Support wireframes, prototypes, style guides, design systems, and user flows to communicate your interaction ideas effectively.
  • Design visual components to be used across various digital platforms.
  • All design decisions should consider the overall UX roadmap as well as design thinking and fundamental principles.
  • Stay up to date with the latest digital trends and update the digital team regularly with changes to industry standards.
Three or more years of digital web UI design experience and proven track record.
Strong portfolio presented during the interview.
Hands-on experience creating and using wireframes, prototypes, storyboards, user flows, etc.
Experience using tools such as Sketch, Zeplin, InVision, Adobe XD, Adobe Photoshop, and Adobe Illustrator.
Understanding of basic front-end languages: HTML5, CSS3 Javascript.
Create ideas with a problem-solving mindset.
Experience working in an agile/scrum development process is desired.
Strong communicator – both verbally (including presentations) and written.
Willingness to learn new skills/tools on the job.

At least two years progress toward a bachelor's degree (B.A./B.S.) from a four-year college or university in a relevant field (business analytics, data science, statistics, econometrics, math, computer science, MIS, etc.)
Ability to read, analyze, and interpret common scientific and technical material. Ability to effectively present reports, analysis and recommendations both formally and informally. 
Ability to use tools such as R Studio to model data using regression, k-means clustering, k-nearest neighbor, decision trees, Naïve Bayes, etc. Ability to compute mean, median, mode, standard deviation, percentage change, etc.
Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of abstract and concrete variables to build a business case or rationale for decisions.
Proficiency working in MacOS, iOS, Android, and Windows platforms.
