Role Mission:

This Senior Environmental Engineer is the leader of key environmental, safety, and sustainability initiatives based out of Pella, IA.  In this role the individual leads and coordinates safety programs and processes to achieve world class safety throughout Pella Corporation.  The Senior Environmental and Safety Engineer is responsible for executing strategies and consulting plant managers, plant engineers, and safety coordinators to achieve corporate, division and plant level environmental, safety, and sustainability objectives.

 

Job duties for this Senior Environmental Engineer, but are not limited to:

  • Report and comply within the Clean Air Act, Clean Water Act, Resource Conservation & Recovery Act and CERCLA (Community Right-to-Know) and all other environmental regulatory responsibilities

  • Perform environmental audits and inspections at all locations including acquisitions

  • Comply with OSHA regulations, coordinating and/or performing safety audits, and tracking safety metrics 

  • Provide functional expertise related to risk management, business resiliency, and physical security 

  • Influence product and process design by applying sustainability principles

  • Lead and assist strategic initiatives and projects

     

Job requirements and qualifications for this Senior Environmental Engineer include, but are not limited to:

  • Bachelors of Science Degree or Masters in engineering, math or relevant science

  • Seven or more years combined experience within two to three disciplines including environmental, safety, civil, mechanical or chemical engineering

  • P.E. certification is preferred or willingness to obtain P.E.

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office applications

  • Excellent project management skills with the ability to collaborate with others and work independently

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills, including the ability to communicate at all levels with clarity and precision

  • Excellent problem-solving and critical-thinking skills, including the ability to execute environmental, safety, and sustainability initiatives and strategies

  • Travel up 10-15% and as dictated by business needs 

SUPERVISION

Individual contributor role. Capable of leading a team in complex technical projects from development through implementation.  Serves as a mentor and coach to others in area of expertise.
