Role Summary:

This quality engineer has responsibility for all aspects of the plant quality program and for any assigned engineering projects to ensure the objectives of quality, time, and cost are met. The quality engineer will lead and develop the plant quality team and be responsible to ensure that all aspects of the quality program are executed on a daily basis.  Responsible for effective communication of engineering information among team members.  Follows the structure of the Pella Project Management, Safety, Continuous Improvement and Quality Systems throughout project execution.  Investigates problems and requirements of projects and develops plans for solutions in line with economic, personnel, and environmental considerations.

Essential job duties and responsibilities for this quality engineer includes the following:

  • Daily supervision of the quality team and execution of the plant quality program.
  • Transfer, modify, procure, install, and start up manufacturing processes at suppliers and Pella. The scope of this position spans manufacturing, engineering, product development, material and equipment vendors. 
  • Collaboration skills are necessary when prioritizing, planning and implementing projects. 
  • The ability to effectively present information, defend a position and address concerns is key to driving execution.
  • Apply technical and functional expertise, manage and improve processes, foster collaboration, build relationships, and drive execution
  • Understand and apply safe practices in line with Pella’s safety policies.
  • Ability to work irregular hours and shifts as needed.

Essential job qualifications for this quality engineering includes the following:

  • At least three or more years of engineering experience within the manufacturing industry is preferred
  • At least one to three years of supervisory experience is preferred
  • Bachelor’s Degree required in Engineering, Math, or relevant Science or combination of education and experience
  • Ability to travel as needed
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Applications and AutoCAD or Solid Edge required
  • Familiar with Lean Sigma principals and tools preferred
