SUMMARY: 

This PMO (Project Management Office) Manager will lead the PMO in the development of people and process to accelerate results for project and program delivery in support of the corporate strategy.  The role is highly influential and will be responsible for the development of best in class project management for the PMO and the broader organization.  Effective presentation skills are important for the PMO Manager role.  

This PMO Manager will lead teams to deliver projects which achieve major business goals with speed and agility.  Most project assignments will be Program level responsibilities.  This position will be the primary project management and communication champion for key initiatives. This position will be one of the primary interfaces to the leadership and executive teams.  In conjunction with cross functional leaders, this position will prepare and present major project updates, planning, prioritization and out-of-bounds project reviews.  The primary role will be to provide overall business perspective and leadership to the team.  This highly visible position will have responsibility for driving efficient project/program execution and decision making, and strategic project/program scope alignment with the leadership agenda. 

This role includes managing, coaching, and developing project management professionals within the PMO.  Developing the team, prioritizing and directing work assignments are key components of the role.

ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES FOR THS PMO MANAGER INCLUDES THE FOLLOWING:

  • Balance resources and budgets within constraints through prioritization processes.
  • Manage the portfolio of corporate initiatives.
  • Build culture and accelerate results by deploying project delivery tools and methodologies.
  • Prioritize and assign project management responsibilities within the PMO. 
  • Develop project management competencies within the team.
  • Chair cross-functional project, program and portfolio meetings.
  • Drive efficient decision-making within projects/programs including empowering the team and escalating when necessary.
  • Manage and mitigate risks.  Encourage prudent risk-taking where appropriate.
  • Identify and hold the teams accountable to meeting the key success metrics for projects/programs. 
  • Collaborate cross-functionally to develop and execute project/program plans.
  • Analyzes functional inputs to determine the optimal business case considering resource constraints.
  • Ability to travel up to 20% by car or plane to support project and team needs. 

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES: 

Directly manages PMO team members.

ESSENTIAL JOB QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Bachelor's degree and a minimum of 10 years of Project Management or related experience required. Strongly prefer MBA or equivalent finance and business knowledge and skills. 
  • PMP certification preferred, but not required.
  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret common scientific and technical journals, financial reports, and legal documents.
  • Ability to respond to common inquiries or complaints from customers, regulatory agencies, or members of the business community.
  • Ability to write speeches and articles for publication that conform to prescribed style and format.
  • Ability to effectively present information to top management, public groups, and/or boards of directors.
  • Ability to apply advanced mathematical concepts.
  • Ability to apply advanced mathematical operations to such tasks as frequency distribution, determination to test reliability and validity, analysis of variance, correlation techniques, sampling theory, and factor analysis.
  • Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. 
  • Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.
  • Proficient in M.S. PowerPoint, Excel and Word.
