Manufacturing / Engineering Services Portfolio Manager

This Manufacturing / Engineering Services Portfolio Manager will coordinate collaboration of service and equipment requests between the requestor and MES team members to meet the organization’s expectations of time, cost, and quality.  The primary role will be to provide overall leadership to the planning / scheduling functions and front-line leadership by providing guidance on project management efforts in the plant. This role includes leading the planning / scheduling of projects and work orders of various size from individual RTS (Ready to Serve) requests to multiple large capital projects related to corporate initiatives.  This position will be the front-line project management and communication champion for MES requested services, requiring a broad influence with primary interfaces to engineering, plant operations and leadership teams.  In conjunction with the MES leadership and engineering groups, the position will lead project updates, prepare and present major project milestone updates and communicate major projects out-of-bounds.

Essential job duties and responsibilities for this manufacturing / engineering services portfolio manager may include the following:

  • Excellent project management skills, a high level of organization, strong communication skills, and sound business acumen will be critical attributes for a successful candidate. Equally important, this individual must have a good understanding of financial management and cost-based accounting.

  • The MES Portfolio Manager must make use of systems, tools & processes that help to deliver successful business outcomes within our commitments, while creating a culture of speed & agility, failing fast, rapid improvement and a high-level of morale among all employees.  

  • Drive efficient decision-making within projects/programs including empowering the team and escalating when necessary.

  • Identify and hold the teams accountable to meeting key metrics for projects and programs.  This includes promoting an accident-free work place. 

  • Collaborate cross-functionally to develop and execute project and program plans.

  • Direct development and management of the planning / scheduling team, encouraging development and stretch assignments by appropriate delegation. 

Essential job qualification and requirements for this manufacturing / engineering services portfolio manager may include the following:

  • Bachelor's degree from a four-year college or university or a strong technical/engineering position with strong project management experience.
  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations.
  • Ability to write reports and business correspondence. 
  • Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office, Oracle, and Web Based Programs related to planning and scheduling (Thrive).
