Position Summary

The primary purpose of this position is to provide proactive services to the Pella Corporation Information Technology department and its related functions. This position will be approximately 20 hrs/week. The incumbent will strive to understand the business and the factors of success in the industry. With that base of understanding, this person will support Pella’s current application suite and strive to provide superior customer service for Pella’s information technology systems.  Responsibilities will be similar to what we expect of entry-level IT professionals who join Pella after graduating.

 

 

IT Technician – Part-time student worker

  • Receive, review and process customer calls, emails or direct requests by logging data into the service desk incident tracking database, asking questions to understand the request or issue, and providing step by step instructions to answer questions or resolve problems.
  • Includes solving repeatable problems using documented solutions (standard work), taking referrals from the IT Service desk Tier 1 and Tier 2 infrastructure teams to assist with routine inquiries, and dispatching calls to other technicians and tier 3 support as appropriate.
  • Review ongoing updates to distribution systems in order to provide support to end-users for new features and functionality of the systems.

Qualifications

  • Pursuing a B.S. from a four-year college or university in an information technology field, preferable MIS or Computer Science
  • Must be able to work at Pella's corporate headquarters in Pella, Iowa
  • Strong academic candidate
  • Experience with team leadership and teamwork, especially outside the classroom
  • Ability to use the following software applications: Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access, Outlook, and other applications.
  • Ability to effectively communicate to technical and non-technical personnel utilizing written and verbal skills, including presentations to small and large groups
  • Ability to learn new technology and/or new languages quickly
  • Ability to be successful in a fast-paced team-based work environment
