Human Resources Generalist

Onsite position in Carroll, IA

SUMMARY

Acts as a business partner within assigned Operations plant(s) to provide human resources knowledge, support and guidance as aligned to the Total Competitiveness System, Pella’s People Focused Culture and HR related policies and programs. Builds relations within the plant to best understand, address and meet the needs of team members.  Drives and supports HR objectives to improve effectiveness and efficiency of support and services.

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

 

Meet customer needs through support and services that are accessible, accurate and timely to enable peak performance.

 

Actively promotes and supports a safe and respectful work environment encompassing open communications, fairness, and respect.

 

Assists plant in activities, training, and relationship building to encourage managers to know, develop, inspire, involve, and recognize team members.

 

Gains detailed knowledge of HR policies and practices.

 

Conducts training sessions on policies, employee-related programs, orientations, and other training needs as assigned.

 

Explains company and governmental rules, regulations, and associated procedures for compliance.

 

Assists in investigation and resolution of team member concerns and coordinates process of responding to complaints.

 

Accountable for owning and implementing key projects for the plant, site, division, or entire organization.

 

Responds to employees' questions, complaints, and suggestions in a timely manner.

 

Provides information and guidance for performance and development counseling.

 

Provides guidance and participates in recruiting, hiring and retention processes.

 

Seeks information related to morale, motivation, and efficiency. 

 

Assesses and responds to process improvement opportunities.

This job has no supervisory responsibilities.

QUALIFICATIONS

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

Bachelor's degree (B. A.) from four-year college or university; or three to four years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

 

LANGUAGE SKILLS

Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations.  Ability to write reports, business correspondence, procedure manuals and policies.  Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.

 

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS

Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.  Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.

 

REASONING ABILITY

Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.

 

COMPUTER SKILLS

A basic knowledge of Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
