Provides consultation and support to designated corporate function(s).  Uses working knowledge of the business to provide HR workforce planning support and guidance to business leaders.  Analyzes trends and develops workforce plans to resolve issues and make a positive impact on business results. Utilizes knowledge of various human resources functions to provide consultation and tactical support to management and team members. Supports adaptation, implementation, and continuous improvement of corporate HR policies and programs for designated corporate function(s).  Provides HR support in employee relations, onboarding, training, recruiting, performance management, retention, talent management, and other HR matters. This role builds a partnership with dedicated internal customers and acts as a point of contact for them.



ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES for the human resources business partner include:

  • Works closely with senior leaders to drive organizational effectiveness
  • HR partnership and support with designated function(s) and HR leaders
  • Anticipates employee and organizational issues and needs, make recommendations, and implement solutions to attract, motivate, develop, and retain employees in alignment with organizational objectives
  • Provides on-going advice, coaching, and counsel to management and team members to improve work relationships, build morale, and increase productivity and retention
  • Supports assessment, consultation, and implementation of HR-related efforts including organization design, workforce planning, talent planning, performance management, and employee engagement and retention
  • Assists in evaluation of people-related reports, decisions and results of department in relation to established goals
  • Collaborates with HR Service Center and Centers of Excellence at Pella Corporation to drive organizational effectiveness and accomplishment of Pella’s strategic business objectives
  • Identifies communication needs and proactively improves communications regarding people-related matters and HR processes, particularly considering the function served may be geographically dispersed
  • Partners with Talent Acquisition function on external hiring and onboarding processes; leads internal hiring and onboarding process
  • Champions Pella’s talent development philosophies and processes, promotes organization development and training, and ensures successful adoption by designated functions in effort to develop team members and strengthen Pella’s talent pipeline
  • Supports talent review and succession planning processes
  • Coordinates and supports compensation processes: annual merit actions, AIP proposals, exemplary bonus, and assists with the accountability of headcount and labor dollars
  • Ensures proper training takes place to support Pella’s Respectful Work Environment and People-Focused Culture
  • Manages corporate onboarding process and materials, ensures accuracy of content and use across functions
  • Responds to employees' questions, complaints, and suggestions in a timely manner
  • Manages and resolves employee relations issues; conducts effective, thorough and objective investigations
  • Provides HR Policy guidance and interpretation
  • Assists with unemployment claims as needed 
  • Conducts exit Interviews, analyzes data, and makes recommendations to management team for corrective action and continuous improvement
  • Assists with day-to-day performance management guidance to management, champions performance management philosophies, and leads processes and successful adoption for designated functions (includes performance reviews, performance resolution situations, targeted coaching/performance improvement plans, and corrective action)
  • Participates in and/or leads policy and program development that will maintain or improve a world-class work environment.  This may include team-building activities, orientation activities, training activities, or other activities that ensure high performance teamwork, high productivity, and appropriate work-life balance for team members
  • Supports and coordinates activities including, but not limited to, Caring Funds, Holiday Giving, Special Parking Requests, Fun @ Work Day, Employee Recognition Programs, Employee Announcements, and IGNITE sessions

ESSENTIAL JOB REQUIREMENTS AND QUALIFICATION for the human resources business partner include:

  • Bachelor's degree (B. A.) from four-year college or university

  • Two or more years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. PHR/SPHR or SHRM-CP/SCP certification desired

  • Strong communication and presentation skills

  • High attention to detail

  • Proficient in Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint

  • Oracle system knowledge preferred
