Distribution Finance Manager

Remote work opportunity

 

The Distribution Finance Manager supports the Pella Distribution Transition team with a focus on Finance. This position will require flexibility in duties performed. In certain instances, it may include serving as the primary financial role for the branch and other times the primary responsibility will be to train branch personnel on financial processes and systems as well as coach and develop financial statement acumen. The Distribution Finance Manager will have a high degree of involvement with branch Owners, GM’s and financial roles during the branch transition process.

Travel expectations: 25%

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

  • High degree of understanding of the Pella financial processes as well as systems utilized and ability to train and coach on their use.
  • Ability to be flexible in duties performed. At times, this position will serve as the primary financial role for the branch which may include preparation and analysis of the monthly financial statements and operations reporting, budgeting process and quarterly forecasting amongst other duties. At other times, this position will be responsible for the training of branch personnel on these same items.  
  • Detailed understanding of Great Plains and ability to use the system to properly prepare financial statements.
  • Works closely with other Transition functions (IT/Ops, Sales, HR) to create seamless transition process for new owners.
  • Meets expectations and deadlines as required to ensure effective operation of the business.
  • Partner with team members to drive overall business improvements.
  • Thrives on working in a fast-paced environment with a high sense of urgency.
  • Ability to prepare proforma financial statements and make recommendations for varying scenarios.
  • Strong communication skills are key.  Must be able to communicate & provide recommendations to branch ownership and management in efforts to keep operations flowing smoothly.
  • Must exhibit the ability to maintain professionalism in times of adversity and pressure

QUALIFICATIONS

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

Bachelor’s degree in Finance/Accounting, and three to five years related experience and/or training, or equivalent combination of education and experience.  Education or experience in Finance or Accounting preferred. Must have the ability to manage multiple-tasks in an environment of constant interruptions and be able to prioritize responsibilities. CPA or CMA is a plus.

 

LANGUAGE SKILLS

Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures and governmental regulations.  Ability to write reports, business correspondence and procedure manuals.  Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.

 

MATHEMATICAL/FINANCIAL SKILLS

Ability to compile and decipher information in spreadsheet format. Strong aptitude for compiling, deciphering and relating financial information in various formats.

 

Must have ability to solve practical problems without close supervision.  Must be able to determine appropriate resolution in dealing with employee concerns and questions and set appropriate boundaries. Must possess good thought processes, problem-solving skills, and investigative theory.  Must be able to use sound judgment and make objective decisions in the company's best interest at all times.  Must be able to demonstrate ability to synthesize people and events, problem solve, and engage individuals in effective conversation.

 

REASONING ABILITY

Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.  Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.  Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in written, oral, diagram or schedule form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.

 

COMPUTER SKILLS

Must be highly proficient in using Microsoft Excel.  Proficiency with Microsoft® Word, Outlook, Access, PowerPoint software applications and Great Plains experience a plus.
