Director of Project Management
ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
- Lead the Project Management team
(approx. 10 – 15 people) to develop their craftsmanship and expertise
through personal experience and/or arrangement of certifications and
trainings.
- Map our processes as they exist
today, and systematically modify them to drive improvements.
- Achieve a high First Time
Complete (FTC) rate through accurate and thorough order verification.
- Assist in building a high
performing organization by implementing strong hiring, talent management,
and succession planning practices.
- Utilize capacity modeling
strategies to effectively adjust staffing relative to volumes.
- Create criteria and templates to
establish project standards and controls.
- Assign projects to PMO staff, possibly via a system, and monitoring progress
- Identify and implement additional
controls that add value to managing projects more accurately.
- Develop methods to capture
pertinent information about team performance without adding burden.
- Evaluate validity of invoices on
projects when/if escalated to you.
- Implement a system to enforce
change orders when work exceeds the scope of as-sold project.
- Understand customers’ needs as
described over the phone, email, or in-person.
- Empathize with the customers
regarding their problems to deliver an excellent experience.
- Understanding our products well –
we have 95-years of products and multiple lines with many specialized
parts and pieces in the field.
- Document and update customer,
project manager, or installer records in multiple computer systems based
on interactions.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
- >3 years of relevant
experience.
- Prior experience managing complex
projects with multiple vendors and groups to coordinate.
- Entrepreneurial drive to ‘find a
way’ to make anything work.
- Metrics and results oriented.
- Abstract/creative thinker to
identify potential ways to solve problems.
- Observant to identify problems
before they occur.
- Attention to detail and
troubleshooting skills.
- Valid Driver’s License with a
driving record that is acceptable to be on our insurance policy, per their
review.
- Maintain a high level of
technical skill.
- Ability to use research tools and
resources – including digital systems.
- Ability to learn new products and
diagnose issues.
- Ability to prioritize multiple
tasks in a fast-paced environment.
- Ability to build rapport with
clients, customers, and independent contractors.
- Positive and professional
demeanor.
- Excellent written and verbal
communication skills.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- A degree from a 4-year
college/university
- >5 years of experience in
project management, ideally with PMP certification.
- >2 years of experience in managing
Project Managers in the construction industry.
- Previous experience and knowledge
in window and/or door installation and associated finishing.
- Lean Six Sigma Greenbelt or higher.
