Pella Corporation is hiring an architectural drafter to help with all aspects of the designing and drawing of product application to meet the project needs of our customers.  This architectural drafter will be involved with installation shop drawings, preliminary installation drawings, estimating & quoting and custom product design drawings.  This architectural drafter will have the opportunity to analyze plans, specifications and customer requests to design appropriate product installations and product configurations to ensure structurally sound and water managed installations and minimize liabilities for Pella Corporation.  This individual will analyze each project to ensure all aspects of building codes and manufacturing capabilities are being considered. Job duties for this architectural drafter include, but are not limited to:

  • Developing and drafting product installation shop drawings, designs for specific large and complex projects including custom product drawings and designs
  • Analyzing architectural plans, specifications, and design of appropriate product installations to ensure structurally sound and water managed installations 
  • Analyzing applications as required to ensure proper use of all products and their relationship with various wall construction and building codes 
  • Reviewing project requirements and working with architectural engineers regarding engineering analysis of Pella products
  • Communicating with many areas from field sales reps to product teams, engineers, and customer service
  • Documenting to ensure drawing quality control and accuracy

Job qualifications for this architectural drafter include, but are not limited to:

  • Associates of Art degree in Architectural Technologies, Drafting or Computer Graphics from an accredited 2-year college or technical training institute or four years of experience in an architectural office.
  • Full understanding of CAD software and hardware functions; two years of AutoCAD experience is preferred.
  • Must be knowledgeable about current construction materials and building practices and one year of experience in a construction related field is preferred. 
  • Must be comfortable using a computer and interacting with multiple software programs.
  • Demonstration of effective customer service and communication skills.
  • Ability to manage and be responsible multiple small projects.
  • Ability to comprehend and apply learned information about Pella’s product offering, installation methods, manufacturing capabilities, and product applications.
